ov 2 00 1 Rayleigh scattering in rare - gas liquids
نویسندگان
چکیده
The Rayleigh scattering length has been calculated for rare-gas liquids in the ultraviolet for the frequencies at which they luminesce. The calculations are based on the measured dielectric constants in the gas phase, except in the case of xenon for which measurements are available in the liquid. The scattering length may place constraints on the design of some large-scale detectors, using uv luminescence, being proposed to observe solar neutrinos and dark matter. Rayleigh scattering in mixtures of rare-gas liquids is also discussed.

متن کاملN ov 2 00 4 Modified Rayleigh Conjecture for static problems ∗ †
Modified Rayleigh conjecture (MRC) in scattering theory was proposed and justified by the author (J.Phys A, 35 (2002), L357-L361). MRC allows one to develop efficient numerical algorithms for solving boundary-value problems. It gives an error estimate for solutions. In this paper the MRC is formulated and proved for static problems.
متن کاملPhenomenological models compatible with acoustical and thermal properties of viscous liquids
2014 After a very brief review on the dispersion of acoustical and thermal properties of viscous liquids at the liquid-glass transition, some information is given about the standard models : viscoelastic theory and irreversible thermodynamics as used by Mountain. Part 1 of the paper is devoted to the theory of forced Rayleigh scattering experiments using the model due to Mountain with one relax...
متن کاملN ov 2 00 0 Shell Effects and Phase Separation in a Trapped Multi - Component Fermi System
Shell effects in the coordinate space can be seen with degenerate Fermi vapors in non-uniform trapping potentials. In particular, below the Fermi temperature, the density profile of a Fermi gas in a confining harmonic potential is characterized by several local maxima. This effect is enhanced for ”magic numbers” of particles and in quasi-1D (cigar-shaped) configurations. In the case of a multi-...
